One of the newcomers to the sealcoating world is Asphalt Emulsion, which was created mostly to address diminishing supplies of Coal Tar Emulsion over the past years.
Created from asphalt itself, Asphalt Emulsion has an inherent black color that is very appealing to both large commercial projects and small driveways alike. It simply gives the appearance of neat and orderly, clearly organizing and contrasting the appearance of any landscaping project.
Unfortunately, Asphalt Emulsion can’t do it all alone, and fails to fully protect against harmful sunlight, as well as gas and oil products. Additionally, it just can’t hold it’s sand as well as Coal Tar Emulsion does. These problems, however, have been vigorously worked on over the years, and great improvements have been made in the composition of Asphalt Emulsion and its durability. More importantly, Asphalt Emulsion is the “go to” choice for sealcoating when Coal Tar Emulsion is not available/non applicable for a project.
Asphalt Emulsion, though a good choice on its own, shines better when it’s mixed with other sealcoating products. It brings to the table a dark, rich, black color that emphases “New” and “well-maintained” to a project. With improvements being made quickly to its durability, it’s destined to become the “de-facto” seal coat in the industry.
